My Top 5 Ways to Celebrate your Pet!

Do you ever hear the words ‘we don’t deserve animals’ and just think of how precious your pet is to you?

Me too!

My pup is dozing beneath my desk today and her paws are wriggling in her sleep… there’s actually nothing cuter than imagining she’s dreaming about running around the nature reserve with her ballie!

I often wonder if they know how much they mean to us… or do they just hang around for the food and the security? Either way, they are loved unconditionally and eternally (even when they take a bite out of your curtains…)!

So, let’s show them how much we love them!

(or ourselves, in case they actually don’t care if you decorate your house entirely with their face)

  1. Share their favourite place…

Picture a location in your mind… it’s your pet’s favourite place to be. Maybe they love the beach, or the woods, it could even be your garden just simply watching the world go by.

Wherever your pet loves to be, it’s their favourite place for a reason. Sometimes it’s important for us to put down the social media and just live in the moment, the same way our animals do.

exploring their favourite place can be so special particularly when they’ve passed over the rainbow bridge.

Creating a memorial outdoors can be a great way to cherish the love your pet had for this place - it doesn’t have to be physical, but placing a life-size statue in your garden counts too!

You could simply visit the place they loved the most, and create a new memory with them just remembering all the crazy wonderful things they did here.

2. Preserve their Pawprints

There’s so many ways you can take part in this activity with your pet. Having a physical print or form of your pet’s feet is a great way to decorate your home with things that are uniquely them!

There’s a range of Inkless print kits, clay moulds and animal-safe paints out there you can try out!

Or - order a Print Kit from my online shop and send it back to me to create a beautiful mounted print of your pet’s footprint! If you wanted to be a little extra, you can opt to have a custom name-plaque and framing included so when it arrives with you it’s simply ready to hang on your wall.

After all, they do leave pawprints on our hearts…

3. Make Something

Get creative with them in mind and craft something that reminds you of them. These clay ornaments are really simple to make if you have the tools - you can read my blog on how to make them here.

For those of us that love to get under the needle, getting a tattoo to remember your pet by can be a beautiful and meaningful way to have them with you forever (literally!).

From photography, to pottery, using ink or other mediums there’s so many ways to get creative for your pet.

4. Spread it like Peanut Butter

Your love for your pet doesn’t have the stop there! There are so many animals across our planet that are in need of our aid, whether it’s a loving home or just some food to eat.

Donating to your favourite animal charity is a fantastic way to show your support and spread the love you have for your own pet.

Dogs Trust, the Cats Protection and others for more exotic pets like Tortoise Protection Group all rely on people like me and you to give less fortunate animals the care they need and deserve.

5. A Commission (of course!)

It wouldn’t make sense for me to write a blog post about celebrating our pets without explaining all the benefits of commissioning a portrait of your pet!

The best thing about it? No one else will have an art piece like this! You really can’t get any more personal and meaningful than a bespoke portrait.

Coloured pencil is a long labour-intensive medium, which is why I love it so much! You really can get all those teeny tiny little details that make your pet who he/she is.

Read more about commissioning on my page here.
